ATT U-Verse Now Offering TV On-Demand Downloads Via New Smart Phone Apps
According to a recent report that appeared on MultiChannel News, AT&T has expanded the number of on-demand shows that it offers. At the current time ATT Uverse offers over 700 different episodes of more than 100 different shows. This on-demand programming is available to subscribers at no additional charge. Another feature of the Uverse package is the ability to download any show using apps that are available for over twenty different smart phones. Uverse subscribers can use their mobile devices to browse the television guides and to set up and manage recordings on their DVRs.
In a story that is somewhat related, CenturyLink (formerly Qwest Internet) is shifting the bulk of its attention to its fiber optic network — which now has over 190,000 miles of fiber cable. This refocusing is well thought out. While Internet demands increase, demand for old-fashioned, hard-wired telephone lines is rapidly declining. CenturyLink, with its Internet products and services, has become one of the major Internet service providers in the State of Arizona. In fact, the regional headquarters for the South West United States is located in Phoenix. This southwest region covers Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada. The report appeared in a recent edition of the Arizona Republic.
